the origin story
de vrais garçon d’eau began with a simple idea: to create something real.
What started as Real Waterboys grew from a name into a way of thinking. Rooted in New Orleans, the brand was shaped by the people, environments, music, history, and everyday experiences around us. As the vision matured, so did the identity.
de vrais translates to the real or the true.
garçon d’eau — water boy.
Together, the name represents where we came from and what we intend to remain: true to ourselves, our community, and the process of becoming.
Water has always been part of that story. It moves, adapts, carries history, and changes form without losing what it is. Growing from a city surrounded and shaped by water, that symbolism felt natural. Garçon d’Eau became less about a literal translation and more about movement, resilience, and identity.
The clothing followed the same philosophy.
We create pieces influenced by everyday life, sports, travel, art, history, architecture, music, and the people who wear them. Some ideas are refined. Others are imperfect. Some become permanent parts of the collection, while others exist only as experiments along the way.
The goal has never been to chase what is current.
It is to create honestly, document the journey, and allow time to decide what lasts.
From New Orleans to wherever the work travels next.
